What happens if I lose my wallet?

Your Zucoins Wallet is non-custodial or self-custodial, losing access to your Zucoins Wallet without a backup can mean losing access to your Zucoins permanently.

If you lose access to your wallet, you can restore it using your wallet backup file. Without a backup, your wallet and its contents cannot be recovered.

Understanding the role of backups is essential before this situation arises.

Restoring a Wallet

If your wallet is missing or shows a zero balance, you may need to restore it from your backup file.

To restore your wallet:

  1. Open the Zucoins Wallet.

  2. Tap the Settings (cog) icon.

  3. Select Restore Wallet.

  4. Locate and select your wallet backup file.

  5. Complete the restore process.

Once your wallet has been restored, you'll need to verify your wallet with Zutopia again before you can continue trading.

Finding Your Backup File

The wallet backup file is commonly named beginning with "my-secret-zucoins".

If you're unable to find it:

  • Search your device for "my-secret-zucoins" or "secret".

  • On your phone, open the Files app and search for "secret", as this may locate your backup file.

If You Don't Have a Backup

Because Zucoins uses a non-custodial wallet, only your backup file can restore access to your wallet.

If you no longer have your backup file, Zutopia and Zucoins cannot recover your wallet, private keys, or Zucoins.

Important Notes

  • Store your wallet backup file in a secure location and keep a copy somewhere safe.

  • After restoring your wallet, you'll need to reconnect and verify it with Zutopia before trading.

  • If you continue to experience problems restoring your wallet, contact [email protected] for assistance.
