Distributed ledger technology, or DLT, refers to a database that is shared, replicated, and synchronised across multiple participants rather than being held in one central location. SplitChain is Zucoins' own implementation of this concept.

SplitChain as a DLT
Zucoins is a cryptocurrency that is the native token on the SplitChain network. SplitChain is not a blockchain in the traditional sense; it is distributed ledger technology, but whereas traditional blockchains are incremental blocks added to an ever-increasing chain, SplitChain fragments the ledger across multiple peers on the network in order to maintain high throughput, security, and distributed decentralisation.
