How peer-to-peer trading works

Peer-to-peer, or P2P, trading is the foundation of how Zutopia works. Rather than matching orders through a central exchange, Zutopia connects individual buyers and sellers directly so they can trade with one another.

Understanding this model explains why Zutopia does not hold funds and why verification happens at the wallet level.

What Is a P2P Marketplace?

A peer-to-peer, or P2P, marketplace is an online platform that connects people temporarily, allowing them to trade with each other.

On Zutopia:

  • Buyers and sellers trade directly with one another

  • Zutopia does not hold Zucoins or fiat currency

  • Payments and transfers are handled through connected systems (Stripe and Zucoins Wallet)

How a Trade Is Verified

Because Zutopia does not hold funds, it instead verifies trades by checking Zucoins Wallet holdings before and after a transfer, confirming that Zucoins have actually moved between the two trading peers before releasing the buyer's payment to the seller.
